The Management of Brass Aluminium & Cast Iron Foundry Limited (BACIF) are committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for its employees and anyone entering its premises connected to the company’s business operations or staff.
In demonstration of management duty of care, we will make every reasonable effort to provide a working environment that minimizes incidents of risk or personal injury, ill health or damage to property. This includes:
Provide employees with appropriate training.
Provide safe plant and equipment and systems of work.
Regular consultation on health and safety Issues.
A safe working culture is the responsibility of everyone and this can be best achieved through co-operative efforts of employees. A safe culture will be reinforced through:
Continually identifying, assessing and controlling possible risks to the Health and Safety of people that may arise in the workplace.
The provision of information concerning such risks and the promotion, instruction, training and supervision of employees to ensure safe work practices.
Giving employees and customers the opportunity to participate in Health and Safety decisions that may affect them.
In the interest of maintaining Safety, Contractors, their employees, visitors and customers are required to observe and comply with all Health and Safety regulations of the Company. This includes any safety signage, warnings or instructions given by staff while on the premises.
Quality Policy
The Management team of BRASS Aluminium & Cast Iron Foundry Limited (BACIF) is committed to providing its customers with products and services that meet their satisfaction.
To achieve this, the company has committed itself to establishing, maintaining and continually improving its Quality Management System based on statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to our manufacturing process.
Through training, our employees are empowered with the competence that is required in each area of our operation for the implementation of our Quality Management System.
At BACIF, our customer’s are valued.
We take pride in our role to provide products and services offered within our Quality Management System.
Our quality department comprises of highly skilled technologist and quality officers trained in their respective areas of quality management systems.
Which is developed based on ISO 9001:2015 management systems, along with GNBS quality management (made in Guyana)
HIV/AIDS POLICY
- BACIF is committed to confidentiality should it be known that an employee has HIV/AIDS or any other serious infection/disease.
- BACIF is committed to protecting the health of all employees by providing a safe and healthy working environment. This commitment is made in recognition that HIV and by extension AIDS is not transmitted through any casual contact.
- Any employee who has access to another person’s personal data with regards to their HIV and AIDS status shall keep the information confidential. Failure to do so can lean to disciplinary action being taken against the employee.
- BACIF will not discriminate any employee or applicant with HIV infection or AIDS virus.
- BACIF will treat the HIV infection and AIDS the same as any other illness in terms of employees’ policies and benefits. This includes Health Insurance, National Insurance Claims, Leave of Absence and Annual/Aggregated Leave.
- Co-workers are expected to continue working relationships with any employee who has the HIV infection or AIDS virus. Co-workers who refuse to work, withhold services from, harass or otherwise discriminate against an employee with the HIV infection or AIDS virus, will be subject to the same disciplinary procedures that apply to other policy violations.
- BACIF will ensure that the relevant personnel are educated via seminars/educational material to deal with the concerns of HIV infected or AIDS persons as uninfected employees.
- BACIF maintains an “open door” policy whereby all employees can express their concerns and gain advice from the Human Resource Personnel.
- All employees must comply with the rules and regulations of BACIF’s Health & Safety Policy
Gender Equality
This policy was prepared in keeping with the vision of international Labour Organization (ILO) on Gender Equality.
Which has as its primary focus the promotion of opportunities for men and women to obtain decent and productive work conditions of freedom, equity, security, and human dignity.
Those concepts are embodied in the four conventions viz. Convention No. 100-Equal Remuneration, Convention No. 156- work and family responsibility and Convention No. 183- Maternity Protection.
